How to Build Faith and Know That God Never Fails

How to Build Faith and Know that God Never Fails

How can you truly know that God never fails? Examine His past behavior in the Bible.  Not surprisingly, faithfulness is a common topic woven throughout the entire book.

…the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. – Galatians 5:22-23 ESV

Clearly, God wants us to be filled with faith and trust that He never fails, but how do we practically obtain more faith?  Here are some steps you can take.

Pray

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.  Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?  Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent?  If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! – Matthew 7:7-11 ESV

Decide to Make a Spiritual Investment

When you desire to improve your marriage, you invest in your relationship; for example, you might go on a date night, clear extra time to have more quality conversations, or maybe even read a book about how to improve your marriage.   Interestingly, we easily step into action when we want to improve an earthly relationship, but we’re not so quick to act when it comes to our heavenly relationship with God.

Your relationship with God is a two-way street.

God never fails.  He is faithful.  However, each believer should decide if she will be faithful by investing in her heavenly relationship.

Hear the Word

Romans 10:17 teaches that hearing the Word of God preached builds faith.  Sure, regularly attending a church is critical for us as believers to increase our faith, but we shouldn’t rely solely on our church to do the job.  Technology has provided ample ways to hear preaching; tv, radio, and podcasts are a few examples.  At the very least, phone a believing friend and encourage each other with God’s Word.

Confess the Word

Confessing scripture is a great way to build faith and remind yourself that God never fails.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. – Hebrews 10:23 ESV

Pray about it!

Dear heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your unending faithfulness. Please help me to grow in Your Wisdom and build my faith. Thank you in advance for answering my prayer. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
