Do You Expect Great and Wonderful Blessings in Your Life?

Do You Expect Great and Wonderful Blessings in Your Life?

What are you expecting in your future?  As you ponder the possibilities, are you afflicted with anxious thoughts and forebodings, or do you imagine great and wonderful blessings?

All the days of the desponding and afflicted are made evil [by anxious thoughts and forebodings], but he who has a glad heart has a continual feast [regardless of circumstances]. – Proverbs 15:15 AMPC

Do You Desire an Anxious Manner of Life or a Lifestyle of Great and Wonderful Blessings?

Merriam-Webster.com defines despondent as feeling or showing extreme discouragement, dejection, or depression and afflicted as grievously affected or troubled.  Hopefully, these descriptions do not define you; because, if they do, the scripture above indicates that your days will be filled with anxious thoughts and forebodings.  Whew, that’s one gloomy prediction!  Don’t despair!  There IS an alternative way of life.  Have a glad heart, and live a lifestyle of enjoyment regardless of your circumstances.

It makes sense that if you have a glad heart, you will have enjoyment, right? In addition, it’s quite logical that if you have enjoyment, you will have a glad heart.  Most often, the downhearted will readily admit they would much prefer a glad heart to their current state.  The problem is figuring out how to actually develop a glad heart.

How to Develop a Glad Heart: Praise God’s Name

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. -Psalm 16:11 ESV

This scripture teaches that when you are in God’s presence, there is fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore (great and wonderful blessings), and Psalm 100:4 teaches that you enter into God’s presence with thanksgiving and praise.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise!  Give thanks to him; bless his name! -Psalm 100:4 ESV

Speak out loud, and thank God for the good things He has already done for you, or create a playlist of some of your favorite Christian bands and sing along.  How you find a way to praise God’s name is irrelevant.  Just do it!
