Be Quick to Treat People with Unconditional Kindness and Genuine Goodness

Treating people with unconditional kindness and genuine goodness demonstrates God’s character, and it should be an extension of how God has affected your heart and life.

…the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. – Galatians 5:22-23 ESV

What is Unconditional Kindness & Genuine Goodness?

In essence, it is the Golden Rule; to treat others as you would like to be treated even when they don’t deserve it, regardless of your feelings.

As with other fruits of the spirit, kindness and goodness are not automatically present in a Christian’s behavior.  We must intentionally choose to demonstrate this behavior.

The Blessed Life

When you truly understand that God desires for you to live an abundantly blessed life, it helps you to be a blessing to others.  Trusting God to provide you with all that you need makes it easier to release some of your blessings to others.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. – Jeremiah 29:11 ESV

What to Do When It’s Hard

Sometimes extending God’s undeserved kindness and goodness is harder than other times.  When you find yourself struggling in this area, remind yourself that you also were once undeserving.

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…-Romans 3:23

If your feelings keep you from treating others with unconditional kindness and genuine goodness, this article, Feelings are Fickle and Aren’t Reliable for Good Decisions can help you get back on track.
