5 Reliable Results of Your Prayers
Prayer is never a waste of your time. In fact, prayer is probably the best use of your time. Here are 5 fail-proof results of your prayers.
1. God Hears You
Even if every fiber in your being tells you that your spoken prayer is lifeless and your words fall flat on the floor never to be heard by God, it’s simply not reality. The enemy will use every tactic in his toolbelt in an attempt to convince you that your prayers are a waste of your time. In Psalm 13:1, we learn that David, a man after God’s own heart, battled this lie too, but God always heard his prayers. Psalms 34:15 teaches us that God always has His people in his sight, and He is always waiting to hear their prayers.
The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and His ears toward their cry.
If you’re thinking, “Well, I’m not as important as David so that probably doesn’t apply to me,” then think again. First and foremost, David was a far cry from perfect, and secondly, Acts 10:34-35 explains that God does not show partiality among His people. All promises in the Bible apply to all Christ-followers.
2. Prayer Defeats Your Enemy
It’s easy to think that your antagonistic boss is your enemy, or that a criminal who stole from you is your enemy, or that a disease such as cancer is your enemy. However, the Bible provides insight regarding our true enemy.
Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. – Ephesians 6:11-12
What’s the best way to defeat the devil? James 4:7 states that the enemy will flee from you when you submit yourself to God and resist the devil. How is this done? Resist the thoughts from the enemy such as worry, anxiety, and fearful thoughts, and pray to the heavenly Father.
3. Angels Helping You is One of the Results of Your Prayers
Isaiah 65:24 teaches us that God hears you before you even finish speaking. The words you speak in prayer literally enables angels to act on your behalf. Within the book of Daniel, the angel, Gabriel, was sent in direct and immediate response to Daniel’s prayer.
As soon as you began to pray, a word went out, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed. -Daniel 9:23
You may not physically recognize your ministering angels, but as soon as you pray, they are working on your behalf. Sent to guard and protect you, your angels are always available to assist you.
4. You Become More Aware of God’s Presence
During prayer, you intentionally tune your focus or draw near toward the Creator. James 4:8 teaches that when we draw near to God, He will also draw near to us. When you are in God’s presence, you develop a growing awareness of His personality traits; which include, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
5. Praying Produces Peace
One of the most wonderful results of your prayers is more peace. Sometimes you have an immediate gut feeling of something God seems to be instructing you when you pray. Other times, your answer may be delayed. Unexplainably, and regardless of how quickly or slowly you receive your wisdom, peace begins to replace your fear and worry.
…do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:6-7
